The House of Hungers

In 1934, the Dust Bowl does not just starve the land, it starves people into versions of themselves they cannot stand to admit. Pride turns into cruelty. Need turns into theft. Hunger turns into worship.

Then the envelope arrives.

A black vellum summons marked with one word, Come, finds seven strangers across the country, each already hollowed by a private vice they call survival. It leads them into the Appalachians to a manor that was not built the way houses are built. It rises like a bruise, fed by buried violence and unanswered sin. Once you cross the threshold, the seams vanish, the windows fuse shut, and the house greets you with one name that matters more than your own: FRAGMENTS.

Inside, the manor does not haunt like a ghost. It runs like a machine. It separates its guests into corridors tailored to their appetites, then demands payment in flesh, memory, and confession. Each temptation is baited. Each trial is precise. Each "reward" is a hook.

Because the House is not trying to kill them fast. It is trying to keep them, turn them into stains in its walls, and harvest one final thing before the doors close forever: one soul to claim.

The House of Hungers is psychological, occult horror about shame as a lever, desire as a trap, and the quiet truth beneath every sin: it always thinks it deserves to eat.
