Accessibility
The books should be as easy to find with a keyboard or a screen reader as with a mouse. This page says what is in place and how to report what is not.
What is in place
- Semantic HTML with one heading structure per page, landmarks, a skip link, and visible focus states.
- Every cover image carries the book's title and author as alternative text where it is the only reference, and empty alternative text where the title is already printed beside it.
- The Pressure Index, the Start Here finder, and the contact composer work with a keyboard. Result counts, filter changes, recommendations, and form errors are announced to assistive technology.
- No book information depends on hovering. The hero shelf, the index, and the book pages carry their facts as live text.
- Motion is limited and honors the reduced-motion preference: reveals, the hero shelf, the loop, and the pressure rail all switch off.
- No autoplay audio, no flashing content, no custom cursor, no horizontal scroll trap. The hero loop is muted and stops when offscreen.
- Text and controls remain usable at 200 percent zoom and on small phones. Tap targets are at least 44 pixels tall on touch layouts.
- Color is never the only signal for a state, and text contrast meets WCAG 2.1 AA on both the carbon and the paper surfaces.
Testing
Pages were checked with automated WCAG 2.1 AA scans, keyboard walkthroughs, reduced-motion emulation, and mobile emulation before release. Automated checks do not catch everything.
