Across Elyndria, spring returns in fragments: a blade of grass through ash, moss at the edge of a poisoned basin, thorn blossoms near the Wastes, and heart-root saplings growing where Thornwick once burned. The darkness has been named. Zarathul is sealed beneath the Forge. Queen Seraphina is dead. The public flame burns in the Crystal Cities.

But victory has not made the world clean.

Lyra Dawnstrider and those who survived beside her must now face a different kind of trial. Not battle, but repair. Not prophecy, but witness. The wounded need records. The dead need names. The roads need clearing. The Wastes need watching. The cities need to learn that no child owes a vein to any wound, and no beautiful new growth should be praised before someone asks what it cost.

Kaelan must learn to live with marks that are not only damage, but evidence of refusal. Zane must search for Elia without turning grief into a bargain. Tobin must write the names carefully enough that no one can reduce them to columns. Mara must rebuild Thornwick through food, rules, school, labor, and the stubborn refusal to call ash holy.

And Lyra must learn who she is when nothing is burning in front of her.
