In the post-Scourge wastelands of the Ashen Reach, mana is more than magic, it is oxygen, food, and fuel. Wells run dry. Cities flicker out. The techno-theocratic Conclave wants the Formula to lock the Reach into a gleaming prison of order and surveillance. The Covenant Order calls it heresy, yet dreams of using it to burn unbelievers from the map. Warlords, war-profiteers, and old colleagues who thought she was dead all move at once. Everyone wants to decide who lives under a reborn sun and who dies in the blast.

Veyra has no army and no church. She has a failing world, a lab full of imperfect prototypes, and a conscience that will not let her walk away again.

Hunted through poisoned cities, trench lines, and scorched plains, she is forced to choose how far she will go to keep the Formula out of the worst hands without becoming the monster everyone already believes she is.
