The story
At the Aalto Institute Aurora Monitoring Station, the aurora stops appearing even though every model says the sky should be alive with light. Then the stars go out. Sound begins arriving half-dead. Digital records corrupt into clean absence. And one by one, the station staff start hearing memories that are not theirs. What begins as a scientific anomaly turns into something far worse: a listening intelligence using human minds as raw material.
Called north to investigate, folklorist and anomaly specialist Aleksi Halme joins a military recovery team and Sámi elder Eeli Rantala on a mission into Lapland. The station still stands. The sky above it does not. The air has gone wrong. The silence feels engineered. And in the snow around the facility, the missing are no longer simply dead. They have been arranged.
As Aleksi uncovers the truth, he learns the station did not discover a phenomenon. It invited one.
