About the book
The story
Luma Shellwing lives where the moon kisses the sea, in a tidepool that glows with soft blue light. She has a smooth little shell, two soft wings, two twitchy ears, and eyes full of stars. She is part turtle and part bat, and she is unlike anyone she knows.
The turtles love her shell, but they say wings are not for swimming. The bats love her wings, but they say shells are not for the sky. Each one tells Luma what she should be, until Luma starts to wonder where she belongs.
Then one moonlit night, a little star slips from the sky and needs a friend to help it home.
To save it, Luma has to swim through silver water, climb over slippery rocks, and rise into the night air for the first time. She uses every part of herself, her shell and her wings together, and learns the gentle truth her tidepool knew all along. She does not have to choose. She belongs just as she is.
Luma Shellwing and the Moonlit Tidepool is a soothing bedtime picture book about belonging, courage, and learning to love what makes you different. Glowing, dreamlike art fills every page, with soft, read-aloud words made for winding down at night.
Written for children ages 3 to 8. Perfect for bedtime, quiet cuddles, and any child who has ever felt caught between two worlds.
