In Kettle Hollow, a Community Safety Program rolls out across town: free kits, simple rules, and a small copper coin meant to keep people calm during emergencies.

Then the humming starts.

People who panic, argue, or scream don't just lose control, they change. Mouths split. Bone pushes forward. Horns grow, a punishment for sound. The town becomes a trap built out of fear, and fear is contagious.

Riley and a small group of survivors learn the only way through is discipline: breathe small, speak less, and never answer the wrong voice. June carries a bell that can interrupt the spiral, but every ring risks pulling the choir closer. As helpers spread the kits and teach obedience, the survivors realize the infection isn't only physical. It is a system. One that turns people into proof.
